福岡県朝倉郡東峰村にて焼かれるやきもの、小石原焼の片口。

ころんと丸い可愛らしいフォルムと深い青と白の釉薬が特徴です。夜の空のような深い青釉の上をオーロラのように流れ落ちる白い釉薬が、壮大な夜空の広がりを感じさせます。豊かで多彩な表情を楽しみながら飲むお酒はきっと美味しいでしょう。青に映えるお料理を盛り付ける小鉢としても活躍してくれるでしょう。

小石原焼は、小鹿田焼のルーツでもあり「兄弟窯」と呼ばれることもあります。大分県日田市皿山の小鹿田焼の里からほど近い、福岡県朝倉郡東峰村で開窯し350年続いています。重要無形文化財に指定され伝統を守ってきた小鹿田焼と技法は似ているものの、現代の生活を意識したデザインを取り入れていて、窯によってざまざまな個性があります。

This katakuchi sake cup is made from Koishiwara ware, a type of pottery fired in Toho Village, Asakura District, Fukuoka Prefecture.

It features a cute, round shape and a deep blue and white glaze. The white glaze flows like an aurora over the deep blue glaze, reminiscent of the night sky, evoking the feeling of a magnificent expanse of the night sky. Enjoying the rich and varied expressions of the glaze is sure to be a delicious drink. It also makes a great small bowl for serving food, which stands out against the blue.

Koishiwara ware is the root of Onta ware and is sometimes called the "brother kiln." It was first established in Toho Village, Asakura County, Fukuoka Prefecture, not far from the Onta ware village of Sarayama, Hita City, Oita Prefecture, and has been in operation for 350 years. While the techniques are similar to Onta ware, which has been designated an Important Intangible Cultural Property and has preserved its traditions, Koishiwara ware incorporates designs that are conscious of modern life, and each kiln has its own unique character.
